Biography

Ryan was born on September 23, 2010, with ten little fingers and ten wiggly toes. Ryan was always an active, loving caring sweet boy. He is one spoiled monkey as well. He is the only child for us as of now, hoping to give him siblings in the future. I always took Ryan to the pediatrician since day 1, for his physicals, check ups, and vaccinations. Around September of 2012, he started getting fevers, with no other symptoms. We took him to our nearby hospital, which they checked him out and sent us home with antibiotics, and told us to give him Tylenol. Weeks went by, Ryan celebrated Halloween, went trick or treating dressed up as a lil' monkey. The first week of November he started back with fevers, and all I did was give him Tylenol, we took him back to the ER and they said we can give Tylenol and alternate with Motrin, so as a mom, I did that. I had trust in the doctors and took their advice. A couple of days later, Ryan had a hang-nail on his great toe, which hi
> s dad pulled off because it was bothering Ryan. Days passed and Ryan's toe looked worst, it was swollen, red, and looked infected. Ryan was also in pain and did not want to walk on it or let us touch it. So on November 8, 2012 I decided to call his doctor and go in. Now in my head I'm thinking okay, this will be fast, we will go she will give him antibiotics for his toe, and we come home, little did I know, this will be the start of a new journey. Ryan's pediatrician ran a random finger stick on him, which all showed abnormal. She even re-checked thinking there was something wrong with her machine. She then said we need to go to Arnold Palmer Hospital as soon as possible because Ryan probably needs a blood transfusion. At the hospital several test were done, including X-rays, and labs. On November 12, 2012 Ryan, my only child, my love, my everything was diagnosed with Pre-B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. From that day Ryan has been through several pokes, port surgeries,
> scans, lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, and received chemo, IV and orally. Ryan is a fighter and will continue to fight, Fight to Win.
