Biography

Kaitlyn was born on July 31 2001. She was 18 days early but she only weigh in at 4lb 13oz and was 18inches long. The only problem she had was she couldn't keep her body temp. She had to stay in a little bun warmer for a few hours. Growing up she was hardly ever sick. She only had one ear infection. But we did notice she would spike a fever out of no where sometimes.

>Kaitlyn has a brother who has epilepsy we didn't think that having two children in the family would be something that would happen to us. But on January 29th 2010 we got a phone call from her teacher saying that Kaitlyn had a seizure. She didn't know if it started before she fell or after. We rushed to be by her side and went to the hospital. They checked her out and let her come home with us. That night and the next day she seemed really tried but in good spirits. Then she had more seizures 3 in a row. We called 911 and took her back to the hospital they kept her while there she had another one. She was put on meds and release since we had already had a doctor and could get her in right away. For the most part she was well controlled by with anit-seizure meds.
We were thankful that both our children could be controlled up to a point just having adjustments here and there.

December 18 2011 Kaitlyn's strike had ended, She was getting ready to go to Disney with her best friend. While getting ready she had a seizure and for the next two weeks we were fighting the battle to get them under control. We finally thought we had hit the jackpot with the new cocktail of meds. But the side effects were to great. So on to find another mix. We finally found something that worked after another two weeks of seizures every other day in may of 2012. We were go to go for about 5 months and we noticed that she was having some twitching and falling. We asked if it could have been the new meds or maybe they stopped working. So another change. We never really got them under control. On thankgiving 2012 she had a seizure that seemed to last forever. Then some more over Christmas. In between all of this she's had some eeg's all saying the same thing. Her brain is always having a seizure.

In Feb. 2013 we were told just what we were thinking. She is having seizures (twitches and falling) and they are going to get worse. Her doctor has decided that she may need something more than just having meds added. So he is sending her to another doctor to see if she would need a VNS or even surgery. We start our new adventure this week on Thursday as we meet her new doctor.
