Biography
Joseph(Joey)was born weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 5ozs and 19 3/4 inches long at 3 weeks early.He was not breathing due to him getting logded and swolling amno fluid,when he started breathing he had troulbed maintaining room air and was put under a hoodie to help him stabalize,after about 4 days the dr' s came and said Joey was floppy and larthgic and wanted to do an MRI to check for CP,but when the results came back it was much worse,Joey was diagnosed with Semilobar Holoprosencephaly(where the forebrain does not seperate into hemispheres),we were sent to Childrens Hospital in Birmingham, Al by medivac,where we were told Joey would not live past 6 mths old and if he did that he would be considered a vegatable and would not have profitalbe life.
So we took our precoius angel home and waited,well Joey begin to grow and roll and eat,and do everything a normal 3 th old did,we enrolled him in early intervention and put him PT,OT,and SP and Joey is progressing.
Joey was dx with Diabetes Insipidis in Feb 2007 and was put on DDAVP to control it and had Gtube placed in 2007 for extra fluid intake to also help with DI.
Joseph is now walking in a gait trainer and has gained up to 22 pds.He is during great,Dr says he sodium is doing good and that Joseph looks wonderful.
They call him the miracle when he goes into the office,and we have not been the hospital now for a year,that itself is an accomplishment.
