Biography
Brooke was born on June 16, 2011. She was very healthy until November of 2012 when she started getting sick. Over the next 2 months, she had a stomach virus, a severe ear infection, influenza, strep throat, anemia, and a fever. Brooke would get over one illness and then she would get another. Eventually we found a lump on her left side. We took her to a specialist who had her admitted to the hospital. After an ultrasound and x-ray they determined that she had a tumor. A biopsy and many other tests were done to determine what type of cancer it was. On January 23, 2013, Brooke was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. She had a dual port inserted and began chemo right away. We are presently on cycle 5 of her chemo. After this cycle she will have a CT scan and surgery to remove the tumor. Then she will have another cycle of chemo. She will have two and a half weeks of radiation. Finally she will have six months of immune therapy. After that she will have
> scans every 3 months to make sure the cancer does not come back.
